Description:
A field of Ōtaki Pink carnations being grown commercially alongside the Main Highway, Ōtaki, on the site of the later Information Centre/Gallery, c1933.

The Railway Hotel can be seen in the distance. Gathering flowers are Phylis and Ray Moffatt (children, left), Winston (man wearing braces and hat, centre) and three others (one probably Julia Moffatt, grandmother of Ray and Phyllis).

The garden was leased by Winston (surname unknown), the partner of Julia Moffatt (nee Whiley).
